The King's Head
Dullingham

More than a year ago John and Karen Welford took over The King’s Head at Dullingham, which has been closed for five years. The plan was to revive it as a traditional country pub and to help reach this goal the couple acquired the services of Paul Buckley, formerly head chef at Swynford Paddocks, also his right hand man, Ray Revel.
The four of them, along with their staff, have now established The King’s Head as a destination pub, five miles south of Newmarket.

The menu features lots of fresh fish and sea food, along with well aged Hereford steaks. The aim is to offer a selection of pub favourites, such as steaks, scampi and pies, but also other choices, including sea food and scallops over a prawn and sea food risotto, or stuffed fillet steak with Madeira sauce.

John and Karen’s motto is ‘restaurant food at pub prices’.
Another popular feature is a menu of tapas-style starters, served on slate and priced at £2.95 each or four for £10. These include Devils on Horseback, potted shrimps, chipolatas, whitebait and many more regularly changing dishes.

On the pub side there is Bass Ale, Woodforde’s Wherry and Courage Directors. The two-tier wine list has a small premier selection with clarets, Chablis, etc and the more extensive quaffing menu features Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Merlot.

John and Karen and their team welcome customers old and new and invite them to go along and enjoy the winter and Christmas season with them.
